On August 11, the Consulate General of Singapore in Guangzhou hosted Singapore's National Day reception in Guangzhou. Zhang Shaokang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province, Peter Tan, Singapore's Ambassador to China, and Cindy Wee, Consul General of Singapore in Guangzhou, attended and delivered remarks.
As the sole invited performing group that evening, teachers and students from Guangzhou SCA School presented two meaningful songs.
Primary school students sang Top of the World with clear, childlike voices, conveying cross-border optimism and strength through its inspirational lyrics.
The joint performance by teachers and students of Singapore's national song Home – a timeless classic sung every National Day – embodies Singaporeans' profound love for their country and nostalgia for home. Through this song, the school community extended birthday greetings to Singapore.
A particularly heartwarming highlight came when Ambassador Peter Tan and Consul General Cindy Wee joined the students on stage to sing this special piece, offering sincere wishes for "enduring China-Singapore friendship," which drew enthusiastic applause from the audience.
2025 marks both Singapore's 60th anniversary of independence and the 35th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Singapore – two significant milestones. As a flagship project for basic education collaboration between Guangdong and Singapore, Guangzhou SCA School has, since its founding, been committed to deepening Sino-Singapore educational exchanges and nurturing talents who integrate the fine cultures of both nations. Moving forward, the school will continue to serve as a hub for people-to-people exchanges, strengthening educational cooperation through curriculum innovation and student-teacher exchanges to infuse new vitality into China-Singapore friendship.
Happy 60th National Day to the Republic of Singapore, and may China-Singapore friendship grow ever stronger!
